This is the Household Inventory and Estate Settlement document covering the legal aspects of distributing the estate of Peter Hindersson (1724-1785) from Sweden. Peter was one of the author's 5th great grandfathers. The document is called a "Bouppteckning" which is roughly translated as a Household Inventory and Estate Settlement.
The presentation of this Bouppteckning translation is a sort of Rosetta Stone since it includes the handwritten Swedish source image, a transcription of that information (which includes some conversion to modern Swedish), and a translation of that information to English.
The
transcription was done by Anders Welin, another descendent of Peter
Hindersson. The translation was coordinated by the author.
The
work was done
primarily
in 2005, using the Tolken99 translator, dictionaries, the
SweGGate
web site by Fredrik Haeffner, and references found by the Google search engine
all over the Worldwide Web.
In
addition, Anders advised on difficult words,
Bo Johansson helped with English phraseology, and kind folks on
Rötter
contributed some definitions.
Although it is getting close to
"complete" this
transcription/translation still needs some tuning and should be viewed as a
work-in-progress.
For example, there may still be a few words in the Inventory that have not been extracted
or translated.
