For the purpose of categorizing, a golf ball may be thought of as a cube with six faces. A typical ball has two identical faces 180° apart with the same ball number and brand name, and an attribute indicator on one of the faces between those two. Here is a "flattened out" simple TOP FLITE cube.
|# and brand||attribute||# and brand|
A TOP FLITE ball may also have a variety name just below the brand name on the numbered faces. These varieties include the seven illustrated below plus MAGNA EX, MAGNA EX-W, PLUSII, S-2000, STRATA, SUPER RANGE, Titanium, XL 2000, XL-Ti, and Z-BALATA. Usually the number is above the text, but as you can see, on some varieties it is below. The terms "attribute" and "variety" are not "official" but seem to pretty well describe the function of those indicators.
The brand name TOP FLITE appears on golf balls as shown above and also as TOP-FLITE with a true hyphen. Varieties of TOP-FLITE's (with the hyphen) include all of those shown below. (Click on the image below to see a different variety. The show loops after 8 images.)
Not all varieties are made with all attributes, but samples of all of the attributes in the following table are a part of the Top Flite collection. This table helps to account for the fact that the collection currently contains 144 unique Top Flite golf balls.
